Academic Letter

Academic Letter Excellence Program

The Academic Excellence Program, sponsored by the Eldorado High School Parent Organization (EPO), began in 1987.  In much the same way that athletes are honored for their efforts with a school letter, the EPO recognizes students with outstanding academic accomplishments.  Not only is this a valued award at Eldorado, but it is also a recognized award on our students' transcripts as they begin applying to colleges.

Any junior or senior who achieves a GPA of 3.5 or better for four individual semesters is eligible.  Students who achieve a GPA of 3.5 for 6 individual semesters are eligible for an Academic Bar, in addition to the Letter previously earned.  PLEASE NOTE. . . STUDENTS MUST APPLY for their letter or bar by filling out a request form.  Request forms will become available in the counseling office or from Senior secretary Kathy Martinez.   The Spring application is for current Seniors only -- all other grade levels will apply in the fall.

In addition to the GPA requirements, which are verified by the school registrar, the student must receive a recommendation from three EHS staff members.  GPAs must be 'verifiable' at the time of the application deadline -- therefore, the student's current semester is not considered.

The Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony will be held in the fall in the PAC.  Seniors who earn a Letter or Bar after the fall ceremony will receive the award at the school's Honors Assembly in the spring.

IF YOUR STUDENT IS ELIGIBLE ENCOURAGE THEM TO APPLY BY THE DEADLINE.  If you have questions contact please contact Marti Johns johnsdm619@gmail.com, or your student's counselor.  Students will be notified by mail regarding their application results.

Deadlines for Academic Letter 2017-18:  October 2, 2017

Academic Letter Award Program:  Monday, October 16th, 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Eldorado High School.

Applications for Academic Letters and Academic Bars can be picked up on the main desk in the Counseling Office and turned in to Mrs. Martinez (Senior secretary) upstairs in the Admin. building.

Donations Needed!

Eldorado Parents Organization is asking for your help.  As the school year starts to wind down, please consider going to one of the wish lists below and contributing an item or two to our organization. We are partnering with a local startup – www.udorami.com – to share the wish lists with our parents and partners.   Login encouraged but not required.  Please choose a list and donate an item or two for our teachers and staff. After you’ve purchased it, mark it, and send it to the school office clearly labeled “ELDORADO PARENT ORGANIZATION”, so we don’t double purchase!  We’ve included links to make it easier to purchase (the pictures and links help) but you’re not required to buy from these stores.    For more information about how to use the Udorami application to make your own lists, please start here.

Thanks, your EPO staff.  Let’s finish this year right!
