EHS students shine in French and receive state and national awards in le Grand Concours, the National French Contest this spring 2026.

Le Grand Concours, the National French Contest, is an annual, difficult, timed, national French test taken in 50 states, designed and disseminated by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF). Its purpose is to help stimulate interest in the learning of French as a global language and to reward achievement in modern languages acquisition. Students compete against their peers in their states as well nationally. This spring 2026, a total 46,928 students took the National French Contest across the US in all levels of French. National medal thresholds are based on national percentiles rather than a set point value. The minimum percentiles required to earn each medal are: Platinum, the highest raw score in the Level/Division (rank #1 nationally); Gold, 95th percentile and above; and Silver, 85th through 94th percentile.

This spring, four level 2 French students at Eldorado High School competed in April in the National French Contest against 11, 334 students around the nation and performed quite well in this fierce academic competition. Sophomore Caleb Hubbard is our State Champion in French level 2 and even more impressive and notable, he earned a National Gold Medal by ranking 3rd in the nation and in the 97th percentile in his category! Silver National Medalists are junior Lauren Ahmed who took 2nd in the state and ranked 6th in the nation and sophomore Leana Stovall  who placed 3rd in the state and ranked 8th in the nation. We are also proud of junior Olivia Hush ranking 12th in the country. Having our students rank in the top 10 nationally is an outstanding academic achievement. Bravo, félicitations! to our remarkable Eagles. French classes are taught at EHS by native French speaker, Madame Laurence Godret.
