Meet the Coaches

Amilya Sandoval - Varsity Head Coach

Amilya Sandoval Varsity Coach

Amilya is entering her eighth year of school volleyball and eleventh year of coaching club volleyball. Amilya coached at Hope Christian where her team obtained back-to-back district championships, semi-finalist finish and state runner-up in 2021.  Amilya was named “District Coach of the Year” in 2021 and “Metro Coach of the Year (4A)” in 2021. This past season, Amilya was the assistant varsity coach at Cibola High school. Cibola was district champion and state runner-up in the 2023 season. Amilya, is excited to be an Eagle and can’t wait to see all the amazing things that are in store this year!  

Amilya has a Masters from the NMSU in Social Work and Public Health, and works at the VA Hospital as the Chief Experience Officer. 

 

Kiersten Cobos - Varsity Assistant Coach

Kiersten Cobos Varsity Asst Coach

Kiersten is entering her third year coaching high school and club volleyball. A graduate of Hope Christian High School, she was named “District Player of the Year” in 2021 and “Metro Player of the Year (4A)” the same year. Currently, she serves as the assistant varsity coach at Eldorado and is a head coach at NM Elite. Kiersten is excited for the upcoming year where her passion lies in cultivating athletic skill, personal growth, and a love for the sport.

Kiersten is also in her last semester of her undergraduate studies at UNM, in the Pre-PharmD program, and is applying for the College of Pharmacy at UNM. She is a strong advocate for prioritizing academics over athletics and aims to set a positive example for Eldorado Volleyball.

 

Harley Chatman - JV Head Coach

Harley Chatman JV Head Coach

Harley found the love for volleyball when she was in middle school. She Played for Rio Rancho High School JV team,  from there she went to play for Cibola High School where she was able to take home a District Championship and a state championship in 2014-2015 as a setter, as well as a district championship in 2015-2016. She played for Rio West and Club Team Tribe. 

After graduating from Cibola High school, Harley decided to put on hold her volleyball journey to serve in the U.S Army. This will be Harley's second year coaching High School Volleyball, and her third-year coaching Club Volleyball. She has coached at Highland High School as the JV head coach, and boys Varsity head coach, Cactus Volleyball club between 14’s and 16’s and head coach for ARVC 15's in the upcoming 2024-2025 season. She is excited to be joining the Eldorado Eagles Family and is looking forward to all the challenges ahead! She is now currently going back to school to finish her degree in Nursing.

 

Gracelyn Stubbs - C-Team Head Coach

Gracelyn Stubbs CTeam Head Coach

After completing her volleyball career at ENMU, Gracelyn is looking forward  to sharing her experiences and passion for the sport as a coach.  As an Eagle Alumni she is extremely excited to return home and teach both fundamentals and the finesse with players at all levels.  Gracelyn value the life lessons of teamwork and importance of learning skills that transfer from the court to the classroom. 

 

 

Luis Martinez - Program Assistant

Luis Martinez Program Asst

For Luis Volleyball is more than just a sport, it's a family tradition!  With over 10 years of experience in sand volleyball, Luis brings a deep understanding of the game's nuances and strategies to his coaching approach providing him with firsthand knowledge of the developmental needs and challenges young athletes face in mastering the fundamentals of the sport.

Transitioning from player to coach, Luis has spent the last 3 years honing his coaching skills across various levels, including youth club teams, High school Teams and competitive adult leagues. His coaching philosophy emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and a strong work ethic, aiming to foster both individual growth and team cohesion. In addition to his coaching role, Luis remains an active participant in sand volleyball, continually refining his own skills and staying attuned to the evolving trends in the sport. His dedication to volleyball extends beyond the court, as he strives to instill a love for the game and a sense of sportsmanship in all his players.

Luis holds National recognized certifications in coaching volleyball and continues to pursue opportunities for professional development to enhance his coaching abilities. Luis is also working on a bachelor's degree as a dental hygienist at UNM.
