Attendance

  1. Per APS Attendance policy, WRITTEN documentation is what is required to excuse an absence.  Please DO NOT CALL IN TO EXCUSE AN ABSENCE.  When your student returns from their absence please provide written documentation excusing the absence to their grade level secretary.
  2. Absences reported AFTER 3 SCHOOL DAYS SHALL BE RECORDED AS UNEXCUSED.
  3. Students MAY be excused for the following reasons, WITH APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTATION:
    • Illness ( including chronic illness documented on a health plan, IEP or 504)
    • Limited family emergencies; family death
    • Medical, health or legal appointments
    • Suspensions
    • Religious commitment
    • College visit
  4. All absences for other reasons are unexcused including:
    • Non-school sponsored activities or trips
    • Family vacations outside of the normally scheduled school breaks
    • Parents will be notified of absences by the automatic calling system, WHETHER EXCUSED OR UNEXCUSED.
  5. It is the student's responsibility to clear an absence that is not on the excused list.
  1. Students who exceed 10 absences (5 of which are unexcused) in ANY CLASS may not receive credit and will be dropped from class(es) with a withdrawal failing. (WF)
  2. Students must maintain a minimum of three classes, including one core class at Eldorado High School.  Students must maintain a minimum of four classes, including one core class, to remain in NMAA activities/athletics.

Absences for school-related activities, such as athletic competition, student government functions, performance groups, and field trips are called EAGLE ABSENCES.  Sponsors must arrange for the students to obtain all signatures from all classes at least six (6) school days prior to the activity to receive an Eagle Absence and students must obtain all signatures before the six-day deadline.  If this six (6) day notice is not met, then the student runs the risk of not attending the event.  Students should make arrangements with their teachers to meet any class/assignment responsibilities.  Students in excess of eight (8) absences may not be allowed to attend Eagle Absences.

Parents picking up their children from school MUST come to the office to sign them out through the grade level secretary. You must show ID--school policy. Freshmen (9th graders) must be checked-out in the Freshman Academy building (N. of Media Center)

Unless sent home by the nurse, any student who leaves campus early or who returns to campus during the school day must check in/out with his/her grade-level secretary.  To expedite this process, parents/guardians should:

First: Call the Grade Level Secretary

Call grade level secretary, indicating the time your student should be in the office to leave with a parent, or if the student will be driving him/herself what time they will need to leave campus.  In the latter case, an off-campus pass must be issued to the student.

TO EXPEDITE THINGS--PLEASE CALL IN AHEAD OF TIME, allowing at least a couple hours (PREFERABLY FIRST THING IN THE MORNING).  Getting a student out of class may take longer than you expect; please arrange ahead of time so that you can arrive to your scheduled appointment on time.

Second: Bring back the Doctor's Notes

When your student is returning from a doctors appointment, a doctors note from their office that is dated and time stamped should be presented to the grade level secretary.  When presenting proper documentation, parents do not need to accompany students to the office for check-in.  Students who do not check in/out through the office will be counted unexcused and will not be allowed to make up missed work.

It is the responsibility of the parent and the student to keep track of attendance.  A calendar or chart should be used to record dates, times, and reasons for all absences.

Parents picking up their children from school MUST come to the office to sign them out through the grade level secretary. You must show ID--school policy.

Drop off/Pick up Information

Reminder: there is NO PARKING or WAITING to pick up students after school on Tracy Street or La Charles Street near the EHS footbridge SE of our campus.

It has been brought to our attention by the neighborhood association that parked cars on those streets from 2:10 pm to 2:45 pm cause a safety hazard, as it is a blind S-curve.

Dropping off in the morning is not a problem as parents drop and go, but during the afternoon hours when you park and wait it causes congestion and is ILLEGAL.  YOU CAN BE TICKETED and more importantly it is a SAFETY ISSUE.  PLEASE DO NOT PARK THERE. Enter the school grounds to pick up your students.

11300 Montgomery Blvd. NE
Albuquerque, NM 87111-2602

We are on the southeast corner of Juan Tabo and Montgomery. However, there is a small strip mall on the very SE corner with our school property bordering it on both sides.

During school hours, enter from Juan Tabo. It is the first traffic light just south of the traffic light at Montgomery and Juan Tabo. Turn east into the drive, going over 3 speed bumps, turning left after that 3rd speed bump into the teachers/visitor lot. This is the lot where one drops off and picks up students.

Please do not park in a numbered spaces as they are reserved for teachers. Some teachers come and go in the day as they work at several schools.

Visitor parking is the northernmost row and is marked "Visitor Parking" with signs.  If all these spaces are full, you can park in the parallel spaces on the east side of the teacher lot or the southernmost area of this lot in non-numbered spaces.

The gates to enter the school property are open before school and after school on the Montgomery Street side. They are open on the weekends as well.
